About this tool

Spreadsheets get sent as PDFs so the numbers can't wander. Invoices, price lists, budget summaries, grade sheets. An .xlsx is editable by whoever opens it and renders differently across Excel versions; a PDF is fixed. Drop the file, check the preview, download. Every sheet lays out page by page, and wide sheets flip themselves to landscape.

What carries over: cell values with their number formats approximated (decimals, percentages, currency symbols), fonts, bold and italic, fill colors, borders, merged cells, column widths, row heights. Page breaks fall between rows rather than through the middle of one. The single exception is a row taller than a whole page, which continues onto the next page instead of being cut off. Hidden rows and columns stay hidden, matching what Excel's own print dialog would give you. Charts, pivot tables, and embedded images don't render in this version, and the output is rendered like a print: the text in the PDF is part of the page image, not selectable. The numbers arrive; the graphics don't.

Frequently asked questions

Are my spreadsheets uploaded anywhere?
No. The .xlsx is parsed and rendered in your browser, full stop. For payroll and customer data, that means no server copy, no retention policy to read, nothing to follow up on.
Will charts and pivot tables convert?
Not yet. Cell data, styling, merges, and layout convert; chart graphics and pivot interactivity don't. A sheet with a chart converts with that area empty, so glance at the preview before downloading.
Is the text in the PDF selectable?
No. Each page is rendered as an image, like a print of the sheet, so the text can't be selected or searched. When selectable text matters, export to PDF from Excel itself; when a fixed, faithful snapshot is the point, this is exactly that.
How are wide spreadsheets handled?
Sheets wider than a portrait page go onto landscape A4 automatically, and anything wider still is scaled down to fit the page width. Same behavior as "fit to width" in Excel's print dialog.
Does it support the old .xls format?
No, only .xlsx (Excel 2007 and later). Open a legacy .xls in Excel, LibreOffice, or Google Sheets and save it as .xlsx first.
Will number formatting be preserved?
The common formats are approximated: decimal places, thousands separators, percentages, and $/€/£ symbols. Exotic custom formats fall back to the plain value, and dates render in your locale's format.
What about multiple sheets?
Every visible sheet converts, in order, each starting on a fresh page. Hidden sheets are skipped, which is also what Excel itself would print.
