About this tool

Rotation problems almost always come from scanning. A phone scan held the wrong way, a flatbed that took the page in sideways, an attachment from a coworker that arrives flipped. None of that needs a re-scan. Turn the page, save, done.

Every page rotates on its own. If pages 47 through 49 of a 200-page binder came in landscape, fix those three and leave the rest alone. The thumbnail flips the moment you click the arrow, and rotations survive undo and redo, so experimenting costs nothing.

When you save, the rotation is written into the file itself, not just shown on screen. So the PDF opens the right way up in Acrobat, Preview, phone apps, browsers, and it prints the right way too. If you've ever had a document that looked fine on screen and came out of the printer sideways, a viewer was faking the rotation instead of saving it. This doesn't do that.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rotate just one page instead of the whole document?
Yes. Hover any thumbnail in the sidebar and use the ↺ / ↻ buttons on it. Each page keeps its own rotation.
Does rotating change the page size or aspect ratio?
A 90° or 270° turn swaps width and height; 180° leaves them alone. The content rotates as one unit, so margins and spacing stay put.
Will the rotation print correctly?
Yes. It gets saved into the PDF itself, and printers and readers all honor it the same way.
Can I rotate a page by 45 degrees or another non-90 angle?
Pages only rotate in 90° steps, because that's all the PDF page-rotation field supports. Things you place on a page (images, signatures) can be rotated to any angle.
What happens to text I added on top of a rotated page?
Annotations ride along with the page. A note you put at the top is still at the top after the turn, and you can rotate individual text boxes separately if you want.
