About this tool
This tool finds the tables in a PDF and rebuilds them as an Excel spreadsheet, entirely in your browser: the PDF and the .xlsx never leave your device. Bordered tables are detected from their grid lines; borderless tables from the column alignment of the text. Each PDF page becomes its own worksheet, and cells that contain plain numbers become real numeric cells, so formulas like SUM() work on the output immediately.
A PDF doesn't contain tables; it contains characters positioned on a page, and the grid has to be inferred. Cleanly ruled or cleanly aligned tables on digital PDFs reconstruct well. Tables drawn with unusual graphics, merged headers spanning odd ranges, or values that visually straddle columns can land in neighboring cells. Skim the output against the original before relying on it: it's a spreadsheet, so errors are easy to spot and fix.
Pages without a detectable table still arrive as plain rows of text in column A rather than an empty sheet, so nothing silently disappears. Scanned PDFs need the OCR tool first: a scan has no text to extract until OCR writes a text layer into it.
