Terms of service

Last updated: August 8, 2026

Plain-language terms for a simple deal: free PDF tools that run on your device, with optional paid passes planned for later.

The short version

Use the tools for anything lawful; your files stay yours and stay on your device. Nothing is for sale yet; when paid passes launch, Paddle will handle the payment, one-time passes will simply expire, and subscriptions will be cancellable at any time. The service is provided as-is: check documents that matter before relying on them.

Who you are dealing with

discreetpdf.com is an independent, single-developer service; "we" in these terms means its operator. A US limited liability company is being formed and will be named here once registration completes. By using the site you agree to these terms; if you do not agree, do not use the site. You also need to be old enough to enter a contract where you live; if you are not, please do not use the site.

The service

discreetpdf.com provides PDF tools that run in your browser: files you open are processed on your device and are not uploaded to us. The core tools are free and need no account. Optional paid passes are planned that would unlock extra features for a fixed window of time; nothing is for sale today.

We work to keep the site fast, correct, and available, but it is a living product: features can change, improve, or be withdrawn, though the everyday free tools stay free, and we will never weaken a free tool to push you toward a paid one. And one thing does not change quietly: moving any processing of your files off your device would be announced in advance, as our privacy pledge promises.

Your files

Your documents are yours. Using the tools gives us no rights over them; we never even receive them. You are responsible for having the right to open and edit the files you work with, and for what you do with the documents you produce.

Because everything runs locally, results depend on your browser and device. Verify any document that matters (a filing, a contract, an application) before you send or rely on it.

Accounts

No feature requires an account today; if pass-locked features launch, an account will be needed only for those. You sign in with Google or GitHub. We never see or store a password. Keep control of the provider account you use, because activity under your sign-in counts as yours. You can delete your account at any time on the account page; that signs you out everywhere, cancels any active subscription, and removes your records on our side.

Passes and billing

Passes are not on sale yet. When they launch, they will come in fixed windows: one-time passes that simply expire, and a monthly subscription that renews until you cancel. The price and what a pass unlocks will be shown before you buy. Payments will be processed by Paddle, which will sell the pass as merchant of record under its own terms; we never see your card number.

Once passes are available you will be able to cancel a subscription at any time from the billing portal on your account page. If a purchase ever goes wrong (double billing, a pass that never activated), contact us and we will make it right.

Acceptable use

Do not use the site to break the law, and do not attack the site itself: no probing, overloading, or disrupting our endpoints, no automated or bulk abuse of the contact form or sign-in, and no attempts to circumvent rate limits or the restrictions on any paid feature. That is the whole list: what you do with your own documents on your own device is your business.

Third-party components

The app ships with open-source components: PDF engines, OCR, fonts. Their licenses and required notices are on the licenses page.

No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the tools are error-free or that output is right for your purpose; verify results before relying on them.

Liability

To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of documents you did not keep your own copy of. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing limits consumer rights that the law of the place you live makes mandatory.

Ending things

You can stop using the site at any time, and deleting your account removes your records. We may suspend or close an account that abuses the service or these terms. If we ever wind the service down, subscriptions are not billed beyond it.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves; the date at the top always names the current version, and material changes are announced on the site. Changes to where your files are processed are additionally bound by the stricter promise in our privacy pledge. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
