About this tool

Watermarks are usually about status. DRAFT on the copy that isn't final. CONFIDENTIAL on the one that shouldn't circulate. Your company name across a sample, or a recipient's name on their personal copy. Type the text, pick an angle and an opacity, and it goes onto every page at once.

Three angles cover the common layouts: horizontal, the classic 45° diagonal, and vertical along the side. Opacity runs from 5%, where the mark only shows on close inspection, up to 80% for a notice nobody can claim they missed.

The font size fits itself to the page so the text spans roughly 70% of its run, leaving a margin at the edges, and there's a slider for when a spec demands an exact size. Some legal templates want a 48-point CONFIDENTIAL and nothing else. The default color is a middle gray that reads over both light and dark content. Once saved, the watermark is part of the page, so every recipient sees it no matter what they open the file with.

Frequently asked questions

Will the watermark appear on every page automatically?
Yes. It applies to the whole document in one go. No per-page setup.
Can I make the watermark sit behind the page content instead of on top?
No. It's drawn on top at low opacity, which is the standard approach for DRAFT and CONFIDENTIAL stamps. Behind-content watermarks need transparency-group tricks that render inconsistently across viewers, so they aren't offered here.
Is the saved PDF still searchable with a watermark applied?
Yes. The original text layer is untouched. Some readers will also match the watermark text itself in search, which rarely matters in practice.
Can I add an image watermark instead of text?
Not from this tool. For a logo or an image stamp, use Add Image and copy-paste it across pages. If enough people ask for a bulk image watermark, it may get built.
What's the difference between a watermark and the Add Image tool?
Watermark puts one text stamp on every page in a single click. Add Image places each image by hand, page by page. Whole-file markings want the watermark; one-off insertions want Add Image.
