About this tool

Tax forms, applications, intake sheets, contracts with blanks. The documents nobody wants to print, fill in by pen, and scan back. If the PDF has real form fields (an AcroForm), the editor spots them the moment the file opens and makes them work: text boxes, checkboxes, radio buttons, dropdowns, and list boxes, all clickable right on the page.

Click a field and type. Tick the boxes, pick from the dropdowns. The fields sit exactly where the form's author put them, and rules like maximum length or fixed option lists are respected while you fill. And if the document turns out to have no interactive fields at all, a flat scan for instance, you can still do it the manual way, dropping text, checkmarks, and a signature wherever they need to go.

The form and everything you type into it stays on your device. There's no upload, no account, and no server copy of a document that probably carries your name, address, or ID number. When you're done, save a normal PDF with the values stored in the fields, or a flattened copy where the answers are baked into the page and can't be changed by the next person who opens it.

What kinds of form fields can I fill?
The standard AcroForm set: text inputs, checkboxes, radio groups, dropdowns, and list boxes. Rules built into the form, like max length or multi-line text, are honored as you type.
My PDF has blanks but nothing is clickable. Why?
It has no interactive fields. It's either a scan or a form exported without an AcroForm. You can still complete it by hand: the text tool for the blanks, checkmarks for the boxes, the signature tool where you'd sign. It just won't be an automatic field-by-field fill.
Does it support XFA forms (LiveCycle / some government forms)?
XFA-only forms open read-only here. Their dynamic fields don't work in this editor, and you'll see a notice when one is detected. Many of them also carry a standard AcroForm layer, which does fill normally. For a pure-XFA form, Adobe Acrobat is still the reliable option.
The form has calculations, a date picker, or a "submit"/"email" button. Do those work?
No, and that's deliberate. Those are driven by JavaScript embedded in the PDF, and this editor doesn't run a document's own code: quietly executing scripts from a file someone sent you is exactly the risk a privacy tool should avoid. So auto-totaling fields, live format and validation rules, Acrobat's pop-up calendar, and buttons that submit or email the form won't fire (Chrome's and Edge's built-in viewers don't run them either; Adobe Acrobat is where they reliably work, and Firefox's viewer runs some). The fields themselves still fill and save normally; you just type the value in yourself instead of the form computing it. To send a completed form, save it and attach the file to your email: on a phone the Share button hands it straight to your mail app, and on a computer you can drag the saved PDF into a compose window.
Are my entries saved into the PDF or just shown on screen?
Saved into the PDF. Any reader will show your values in the fields. If you save a flattened copy instead, the values become part of the page itself and can no longer be edited.
Is my filled form uploaded anywhere?
Open the network panel while you type into a field and there's nothing to find. pdf.js is what detects the fields and draws them on the page as you fill each one in, and the save step that writes your answers into the file with pdf-lib runs in that same tab. A form asking for your income or an ID number has no reason to leave your device just to get filled out.
